Frequently Asked Questions

What is Crowd Chord?

Crowd Chord is a project made by me, Luca, as a hobby. I felt Spotify always lacked an option to collaborate on playlists on big scale. Their collaborative playlists are decent, but they can get very messy once you get to upwards of maybe 10 or so contributers.

Out of the necessity for something better, Crowd Chord was born.

Crowd Chord allows you to create and manage Spotify playlists democratically. It's voting system allows for everyone to have an equal say in what songs go into a playlist and where. The more votes a song has, the higher up it goes. If it doesn't have enough votes to make it into the top 100, it's not added to the playlist.

The playlists are owned by a central Crowd Chord Spotify account to make sure not even the playlist creator can tamper with the system and for example remove songs just because they don't like them. Crowd Chord is made to be fair and to let everyone's voice be heard.

How does the voting system work?

The voting system on Crowd Chord is designed to ensure a fair and democratic process for curating playlists. Here's how it works:

This system ensures that the playlist truly reflects the tastes of the group, with the most popular songs rising to the top.

Can I change the order of songs manually?

No, the order of songs in a Crowd Chord playlist cannot be manually changed. The entire playlist is governed by the voting system, which automatically ranks songs based on the number of votes they receive. This ensures that the playlist is a true representation of the group's preferences, without any individual having the power to alter the order of songs.

The only way to influence the order of songs is by voting, so make sure to vote for your favorites!

Is Crowd Chord free to use?

Yes, Crowd Chord is completely free to use. There are no hidden fees or premium features. All you need is a Spotify account to log in and start creating and voting on playlists. Our goal is to make collaborative playlisting accessible to everyone, without any barriers.

How do I join the beta?

Crowd Chord is now in open beta, which means anyone can join and start using the platform right away! There's no need to apply or wait for an invitation. Simply log in with your Spotify account to begin creating playlists and voting on songs.

Since this is still a beta phase, you may encounter some bugs or issues. If you do, please report them on our Discord server or via email so we can address them as quickly as possible.

How do I delete a playlist?

To remove a playlist from Crowd Chord, open the playlist you wish to delete (You can see all your playlists here), click on "Edit", then click on the three dots on the left of the cancel button and select "Delete playlist" from the options. After confirming that you wish to delete your playlist, it will permanently be removed from Crowd Chord.

All votes and playlist members will be removed from the playlist and it will be deleted from your profile.

Note however, that the playlist may remain on Spotify, due to it not being possible to delete a playlist from Spotify using their Web API.

This may change in the future and it is always possible that the playlist will be manually deleted from Spotify if the playlist no longer exists on Crowd Chord.

If you wish your playlist to be deleted from Spotify as well, please contact us at support@crowdchord.com and we will manually delete it.
